Our Method

How IXL-based instruction works

IXL is the platform behind every program — homework support and targeted tutoring alike. It combines a pinpoint diagnostic, a personalized skill plan, and practice at home and at the center, so learning keeps moving between sessions.

Learning doesn't stop when they leave the center

Every student gets at-home access to the full IXL platform — the same diagnostic-driven skill plans they work on during tutoring sessions. That includes hundreds of instructional videos taught by certified instructors: whenever a concept trips them up, they can watch an expert explain it step by step, at their own pace, from home. Practice together with the tutor, extend it anywhere.

1

Pinpoint the gaps with a diagnostic

Every student starts with IXL's Real-Time Diagnostic, which adapts question by question to map actual grade-level ability. This isn't a pass/fail test — it shows exactly which skills are solid and which need work, across math and reading.

2

Build a personalized skill plan

Based on the diagnostic, IXL generates a skill plan that targets the specific gaps — not a one-size-fits-all curriculum. The plan adjusts continuously: as your child masters one skill, the next one surfaces. No time wasted on content they already know.

3

Mastery before moving on

IXL's SmartScore tracks proficiency on each skill from 0 to 100. We target mastery (90+) before advancing — across homework practice at the center and independent practice at home — so a skill is truly learned, not just attempted.

4

Bridge sessions with at-home practice

Between sessions, students keep the momentum. They can choose from hundreds of certified-instructor videos to review a tricky concept, or complete short skill practice with instant feedback — and the tutor can see exactly what they did, so the next session starts with the right focus.

5

Monthly progress you can actually read

Every month you receive a clear report: skills mastered, current SmartScores, time spent per strand, and growth from the diagnostic baseline. No jargon, no mystery — you'll know exactly what your child is working on and how they're doing.
